All admissions to St. Aidan’s, other than those to our Nursery, are managed by Haringey Council. At St Aidan’s, we are committed to providing high quality education to children in our neighbourhood. Some will have special educational needs (SEN) or a disability. The arrangements for admitting these children are the same as for all others.

Reception

Children join Reception in the September following their fourth birthday.  If you would like to have a tour of the school please contact the school office to book a place. During the summer term parents and carers of children who have been offered places are invited to an introductory meeting at which details of the school day are discussed.

If you are looking to join in a year group other than Reception, this is called an “In Year Admission”. Occasionally there are places available immediately, however, if there are not, you can still apply to be on the waiting list for a space in the year group you require. The school office are generally able to give you up-to-date information on any current spaces available. All in year admission applications for our school must be made directly to Haringey, even if you are not a Haringey resident.

Appeals

Parents whose children are not offered places at the school due to classes being over subscribed are entitled to appeal against the decision to the Local Authority.

Transfer to Secondary School

Children transfer to secondary school at the end of Year 6 when they are 11. Application forms and information about secondary schools are provided at meetings held at the beginning of that year, in the Autumn Term. Parents and carers are encouraged to attend one of these meetings to discuss the process.

Parents are required to list up to six choices for secondary school. Admission criteria vary, but siblings, proximity to the school and selection tests are the most significant factors in the allocation of places. The year 6 teacher will advise and support parents throughout the application process and will help with appeals should they become necessary.
